Course Description
This program is
designed to teach basic black water search and recovery operations for divers
working with public safety dive teams. The program content is compliant with all
OSHA 1910, NFPA 1670 and NFPA 1006 regulations pertaining to diving operations.
Diver training will include: basic search patterns, hazard assessment, risk
benefit analyses, equipment selection and deployment for emergency response
diving. Additionally a general orientation to the following topics will be
included: OSHA standards and the extreme limitations of the Rescue exemption
policy for PSD, scene control, dealing with bystanders and the media. The dive
operations are strongly oriented toward tethered diving operations with some
minimal discussion of free swimming patterns and their applications/limitations.
A very strong emphasis is placed on rescue operations for team members who
experience difficulties during a dive deployment and performing other safety
diver activities. Be prepared to swim. Price for the manual is $50.00
