Classes

 

WRECK DIVER SPECIALTY:

            This specialty course can be done in conjunction with our wreck diving trips.  The classroom session will be held in our classroom here at the Wazee Sports Center.  This is your chance to participate in one of the most exciting specialties.  This activity has stemmed from its original purpose of retrieving what was lost, to today’s additional allure: mystery and history.  During the class you will learn about the different equipment adaptations, buoyancy procedures, wreck evaluations, wreck site research and much more.  This course will give you the knowledge and skills you need to safely explore specific wreck sites.  Advanced Open Water certification is a prerequisite.  Class: 4 hours and 4 dives.  The cost of the course is $149. + book.

 

SEARCH AND RECOVERY DIVER:

            Now you can learn to search all varieties of underwater environments for whatever has been lost.  You can learn basic search and recovery procedures to locate large objects and to recover them.  Training and experience can make the difference between finding and missing the object and the difference between safe recovery and a potentially hazardous situation.  The lecture portion of the course will be held in our classroom and taught by one of our Instructors.  Cost of this course is $149 + book.  Advanced Open Water certification is a prerequisite for this specialty.  Class: 4 hours and 4 dives. 

 

DEEP DIVER SPECIALTY COURSE:

            During this class you will gather the information and skills necessary to safely organize, plan, and conduct deep dives.  All dives will be conducted by a Instructor to help you over some of the normal hurdles associated with deep diving.  The classroom portion will be held here at the Wazee Sports Center.  The cost for this course is $149 + book.  The Advanced Open Water certification is a prerequisite.  Class: 2 days – 4 hours each day and 4 dives. 

 

NIGHT DIVER:

            This will be offered on an ongoing basis throughout the summer.  The total number of dives required is three unless you are Advanced certified which reduces the number to two.  Call us to schedule the classroom portion of the course.  The cost is $149. for Open Water Divers and $95. for Advanced Certified Divers.  Books are an additional fee.

 

UNDERWATER NAVIGATION:

            The classroom portion of this class will be about three hours long and consist of lectures and information on underwater navigation.  For the certified Open Water Divers the required number of dives is three and for those Advanced Open Water certified divers the required number of dives drops to two.  The cost of the course is $149. for Open Water divers and $95. for Advanced Open Water divers.  Books are an additional fee.

 

Emergency First Response:

            The Medic First Aid course offered by Wazee Sports Center is a PADI sanctioned intensive CPR and First Aid course designed to teach you cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency care.  The course approved by the U.S. Dept. of Labor, Mine Safety and Health Administration, covers primary care, secondary surveys, and treatments according to the Journal of the American Medical Assoc.  It is also approved for PADI’s Rescue Diver, Dive Master, and Instructor courses.  The cost of this course is $55.  Books are an additional fee.

ICE DIVER SPEACIALTY:

            This specialty course includes one classroom session and a total of three ice dives.  In this class you will become familiar with the skills, knowledge, planning organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazard, and excitement of diving under ice.  This specialty can apply toward your Master Diver Certification.  The course fee of $149 and includes all special equipment, instruction, and certification fees.  The prerequisite certification for this course is Advanced Open Water.  We will also provide any special equipment you may need.  Includes ropes and harnesses; does not include drysuit. 

 

DRY SUIT DIVER:

            This course is designed to be an introduction to dry suit diving and to help the student develop the skills, knowledge, and techniques necessary for dry suit diving.  Course prerequisite is to be certified as an Open Water Diver.  The cost of this course if $149. + book, but does not include drysuit. 3-hour of class and 2 dives. 

 

EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST:

            This Equipment Specialist program will enhance your practical knowledge of the theory, principles, and operation of diving equipment as well as enable you to perform routine recommended care and maintenance procedures.  This specialty can also be applied towards your Master diver certification.  The information obtained in this course is invaluable and can help you to fix some small problems that may arise with your equipment while at your dive site.  The class cost is $95 + book.

 

SCUBA REVIEW:

            If you’re a certified diver, but it’s been awhile since you’ve been diving, Scuba Review is for you.  Scuba Review helps tune up our diving skills without having to repeat an entire scuba course.  It reacquaints you with diving so that you’re back in the underwater world in less than a day.  Scuba Review includes a supervised pool session with a professional that will help you tune up important diving skills such as buoyancy and breath control, equipment assembly and breathing from an alternate air source.  You can also elect to take an optional supervised open-water dive to discover local aquatic environments.  The cost of the refresher course is $69.  Books are an additional fee.

 

Enriched Air:

            This course is designed to qualify recreational divers to use enriched air, known as “Nitrox” for no stop recreational diving.  The program addresses the use of enriched air with 22-40 percent oxygen, with emphasis on enriched air with 32 and 36 percent oxygen.  Course cost is $149 + book.  Class: 6 hours and 2 dives. 

 

UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY:

            This specialty course will begin with a classroom session lasting approximately three hours with the two photography dives being schedules at that time.  The cost will be $125 + book.

 

Solo Diver:

The SDI Solo Diver program teaches experienced recreational divers how to safely dive independently of a dive buddy or strengthen your buddy team skills. It is a program that is not suitable for every diver because divers must be willing to make the necessary commitment to train and equip themselves to manage the added risks independent diving involves. The course stresses proper dive planning, personal limitations, accident prevention and in the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for diving solo. You will also learn the additional equipment that is required for Solo diving and how to configure that equipment. Course Fee: $149.00 + the book $33.00
