Keith and Rhonda Cormican

Keith Cormican:  Keith grew up moving around the world as his dad was completing an active career in the U.S. Air force.  The Cormicans came to settle in the Midwest in Merrillan Wisconsin in 1973.  Keith grew up spending his summers swimming and helping out on his grandparents farm.. Keith graduated from Lincoln High School in Alma Center.  He started Cormican Milk Hauling and ran this business for 12 years.   During this time he also started Cormican Tree and Landscape with a very successful career for 13 years.  Keith was certified in Scuba in 1991. At this time he would go out to Wazee Lake diving and could see the need for a full time Dive Center.  He started Wazee Sports Center in 1996.  Upon opening the store he started assisting an instructor as a Dive Master until he was able to complete his education to become an instructor. Keith has worked his way to Instructor for:  Open Water I,  Open Water II, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Medic First Aid, Oxygen Coarse, Dry Suit Diver, Ice Diver, Ship Wreck Diver, Night Diver, Dive Master, Nitrox Diver, Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures, Technical Diving, Emergency Response Diver and Boat Safety.

Keith has also been the Unit Director for the Jackson County Dive Unit for the past 6 years.  He was a very active member getting the Unit started in 1996. Keith sees the importance for the Dive Unit in our area and has generously donated much to the Unit from:  Air for the tanks, equipment at cost, repair of equipment, and instruction for Unit members at no fee.

Rhonda Cormican:  Rhonda grew up around the country while her dad was completing a successful career in the U.S. Air Force.  Rhonda has always loved the water, and could never get enough.  Her family came to settle in Randolph Wisconsin, where during her High School years she was a lifeguard, Swimming Instructor, and Swim Team Coach.  Once off to College in Madison for Dental Hygiene, Rhonda continued teaching swimming lessons and life guarding at the YMCA in Madison.  Her father had been a diver in the service and said she needed to do the same.  But in the small town of Randolph there was nowhere for instruction.  Upon moving to Black River Falls in 1997, she soon learned of the Wazee Sports Center and there was no stopping her from signing up for instruction.  Keith opened her eyes to a whole new world!  Rhonda now has the following certifications:  Open Water I, Open Water II, Advanced Open Water, Dry Suit Diver, Ice Diver, Rescue Diver, Medic First Aid, Wreck Diver, Nitrox Diver, and Dive Master.  Rhonda became a member of the Jackson County Dive Unit in 1998, and held the office of Operations Officer for 5 years, and is currently the Public Relations Officer.  She is currently working on a program to go to the local schools to promote water safety. Along with helping with classes and behind the scenes paperwork for the store, Rhonda is also a full time Registered Dental Hygienist, and enjoys helping Keith with Dive Instruction on the weekends.

Keith and Rhonda:  Along with working with the store Keith and Rhonda enjoy spending time with their kids.  Their time off is spent taking the kids swimming, snorkeling, and camping during the summer, as well as skiing and snowboarding during the winter months.  Along with diving Keith and Rhonda enjoy riding their Harley with friends and both are members of the Bruce Mound Ski Patrol
