ISLE ROYALE WRECK DIVES: 2008 Kamloops was a freighter that was 250' long. The ship disappeared in a storm in 1927. Divers discovered the ship in 1977. This wreck has been explored by ROV after it was discovered. The wreck lies in more than 200' of water and is far beyond sport diving limits. Technical Diving Trip - July 24-27 Price per diver - $950 5 Divers Max The waters of Isle Royale offer some of the best wreck diving in the world. Isle Royale National Park is a wilderness island located 20 miles from the Minnesota shore of Lake Superior. Beautiful but treacherous islands and shoals surround this 50-mile long island. These shoals have claimed about a dozen large ships. Professional archeologists have surveyed the historic wooden wrecks. Their diagrams and reports will help you interpret these less intact wrecks. You can explore the rooms and machinery spaces of the more intact steel wrecks. Portholes, bottles, wrenches, lights, and lanterns are just some of the examples of artifacts, which still remain for you to see, enjoy, photograph, and leave behind. If you choose, you may sacrifice a dive for some island hiking or exploring. We will be diving with MN-Blackdog Diving LLC. While at Isle Royale you will eat and sleep aboard the boat, remaining in the park for the duration of your cruise. During the day we will moor over one or more shipwrecks. In the evening, anchor in a secluded bay or dock at a lakeside campground. The price also includes you air and food. Mixed gases are extra. Wazee is diving the Gunilda!!! Join us on this amazing dive September 14-17 2008 Diving the Gunilda The descent on the Gunilda takes 4 minutes. You will first encounter the deck at 240 feet. The maximum depth attainable is 280 feet (85 meters). The visibility is 20 feet (6 meters) and there is no ambient light. The water temperature is 38F(4C) at the bottom, and there are 2 thermo clines, the first is at 30 feet and the other one at 100 feet. There is no apparent current. Penetration on this wreck is forbidden because of the very narrow corridors. However, it is possible to admire the richness of the different salons through the many windows along the deck. The Gunilda is virtually intact, with all its lavish features including her gold trimmed carved wood at the bow, still in place. September 14-17 2008 we will be diving on one of the top ten wrecks in the world. Don't miss this opportunity for the dive trip of a lifetime.
